1. Aster

Aster is a daisy-like flower that adds a hue of vibrant colors like purple, blue, pink, and white to your garden during winter. These require full sun for blooming otherwise the plants tend to become droopy and produce fewer flowers. The soil should be rich in organic matter and well-draining for this plant to grow healthy. These flowering plants also attract bees and butterflies to your garden. Don’t water over the flowers and leaves as there are chances of developing fungal attacks.

2. Pansy

Pansies are delicate flowers that come in a wide range of colors, purple, yellow, pink, and white, being more prominent. These are very hardy flowering plants that requires very little care. The plants can grow to a maximum height of 4-6 inches and therefore look pretty even in small pots and hanging baskets. They make an excellent choice for growing on window sills and terrace gardens. They require full sunlight of 6-8 hours and well-draining fertile soil for a good bloom. They prefer soil moist.

The flowers of Snapdragon grow in clusters on stalks. The blooming starts from the lower ones first and slowly moves toward the top. The flowering plants have a characteristic shape that resembles the snout of a dragon. They come in a wide range of colors such as red, yellow, pink, and purple. These flowers require cool temperatures for blooming and therefore flower profusely throughout the winter keeping your garden vibrant. They thrive in full sunlight and require regular watering. Overhead watering should be avoided as it attracts mildew and fungal attack.

5. Dianthus

Dianthus, more popular as ‘carnations’ or ‘clove pinks’, has beautiful flowering plants with fringed edges. They come in different shades of pink, lilac, red, and white. They are lightly scented and can bloom for a long time making them a perfect choice for cut flower arrangements and bouquets. Being hardy, they can do well in both full as well as partial sun, and can easily adapt themselves to changes in climates from harsh winters to late springs. They are light feeders and don’t need to be fertilized often.
