How To Grow Balsam Seeds/ plants in India?

Balsam seeds are easy to grow and are renowned for ornamental gardening and their medicinal properties. Its oil is used for its anti-allergic property. The beautiful colorful flowers are available in various shapes.

How To Sow Balsam Seeds?

  1. Soak the seeds for 4-6 hours before planting.
  2. Take a Seedling Tray and fill it with Cocopeat.
  3. Make ½ inch deep holes and put 4 seeds in each hole.
  4. Fill the hole with Cocopeat and spray with water.
  5. Seeds will germinate within 10-15 days.
  6. The time to flower is 10 weeks.
  7. The best month to sow balsam is January to February and May to July.

How Much Water Does Balsam Seeds Need?

  1. Water is required every day for up to 8-10 days after transplantation.
  2. Water them on alternative days after they grow.
  3. Keep the soil moist.
  4. Don’t give water to the leaves. Water the plant near the roots.
  5. Make a drainage system if growing in soil and a hole if growing in a pot, so that the excess can flow down.

Does Balsam Seeds Require Full Sunlight?

  1. The flowers grow well in both partial and full sunlight.
  2. But protect the plant from excessive heat.
  3. The best temperature to grow balsam is 15-21° C.

  3. The soil pH required to grow balsam is 6.1-7.5.

Which Fertilizer Is Best For Balsam?

  1. VermiCompost for nutrients every week.
  2. Seaweed once a month for greener leaves.
  3. Epsom salt for better blooming once a month.

Also,

  1. If growing in a pot, take a Medium Size Pot and add a Potting Mix.
  2. If planting in the soil add, Neem Cake Powder, VermiCompost, and Seaweed.
