How to regrow using vegetable and fruit cuttings?

Regrowing using vegetable and fruit cutting is a better way to stop wasting the vegetables and fruits’ non-edible parts and letting a sustainable life. It’s a fun and exciting experiment to regrow using vegetable and fruit cuttings. So, in this article, we will guide you to grow some of your favorite vegetables and fruits.

Some Vegetables That Can Regrow Using Cutting Are:

  1. Turnip or Beets or Carrots:
  • In a jar or plate of water place the top-bottom down of a slice in the water.
  • Place it in a place where it gets an ample amount of sunlight.
  • Keep changing the water in two to three days to prevent bacteria growth.
  • After one to two weeks, the green small leaves will appear. Then transplant them in the soil or a container.
  1. Coriander or Cilantro or Basil: 
  • In a glass of water, put some stems with the leaves above the waterline.
  • Change the water every 2-3 days.
  • In about 4-6 weeks the roots will come out. 
  • Transplant them in a container or soil.
  1. Lettuce or Celery or Cabbage:
  • Cut the base and put it bottom down in a bowl of water.
  • Place it where it gets ample sunlight.
  • Within 1-2 weeks, roots and small leaves will start growing.
  • Transplant them in the container or soil.
  1. Garlic: 
  • Sow a garlic clove in a small jar root-end down and 2 inches below the soil (each clove will produce 1 bulb of garlic).
  • Place it in a sunny place.
  • When it starts regrowing cut back the new shoots so the plant has the strength to develop more bulbs.
  1. Green Onions or Lemon Grass or Fennel: 
  • In a cup of water place the last 2 inches of the bottom of the plant with the roots down.
  • Keep changing the water and place it in sunlight.
  • Within 1-2 weeks, regrowth will take place.
  • Once regrown, transplant them in a container or on the soil.
  1. Ginger:
  • Soak a fresh clump of ginger overnight ( with growing buds).
  • Plant in a jar with the growth sprouts pointing up in moist soil.
  • Water every day until shoots appear.
  • Harvest it when fully grown.

Here Are Two Fruits That Can Regrow Using Cutting:

  1. Avocado:
  • Clean the seed.
  • Poke 3 toothpicks in the seed around the top. Place the seed bottom down in a glass of water.
  • Keep it in a warm place.
  • Once stem and roots appear within 3-4weeks.
  • When leaves appear, plant the seed in soil or a container (but leave half of the seed above ground).
  1. Pineapple: 
  • Cut the top off and remove the first few layers of leaves from the bottom.
  • Place the crown in a cup or bowl of water, bottom down.
  • After 3 weeks roots will be visible.
  • Transplant them in soil or a container.
