How To Grow Petunia Seeds/ plants in India?

Petunia seeds produce wide-shaped flowers. It is one of the most popular flowers for gardeners to grow on the balcony, terrace, or garden. The flower has many varieties of colors. The extreme heat of the sun can result in a short cease in growing. 

So, by following this simple guide you can grow petunia to add colors to your garden.

How To Sow Petunia Seeds?

  1. Moisten the seed by spraying water and leaving it in plastic wrap for about 1-2 hours.
  2. Take a Seedling Tray and fill it with Cocopeat.
  3. Make ½ inch deep hole and put 4 seeds in each hole.
  4. Fill the hole with Cocopeat and spray with water.
  5. Sow the sprouted side vertically upright.
  6. Seeds will germinate within a week.
  7. The time to flower is 10-12 weeks.

Do Petunia Seeds Need Water every day?

  1. Water them twice a week.
  2. Or, when the soil is dry, water them.
  3. Keep the soil moist.
  4. Don’t water them on leaves, water in the root area.
  5. Make a drainage system or make a hole in the pot, so the excess water can flow down.

Petunia Seeds Prefers Full Sunlight or Partial Sunlight?

  1. Petunia seeds prefer full sunlight.
  2. At least six hours of sunlight.
  3. But protect the plant from excess heat.
  4. The best temperature to grow petunia seeds is from 15° C to 23° C.

  1. It prefers light and fertile soil.
  2. They prefer slightly acidic soil.

Which Fertilizer Is Best For Petunia?

  1. Vermicompost for nutrients every week.
  2. Seaweed Fertilizer once a month for greener leaves.
  3. Epsom salt for better blooming once a month.


  1. Take a Medium Size Pot and add a Potting Mix.
  2. If planting in the soil add Neem Cake Powder, Vermicompost, and Seaweed Fertiliser.
