Dragon fruit plants can be grown without support in the ground, but a trellis or support is highly recommended. These columns should be concrete or wood. This is because when an aerial plant grows from the main stem, it becomes very heavy and needs strong support.

Dragon fruit is a climbing cactus that needs support to climb as it grows. Aerial roots at the tips of branches are looking for something that can climb up, so consider long-term support.

Cacti have thorns, and some yellow dragon fruits also have thorns. It is recommended to wear gloves during harvesting. Dragon fruit is also known as “strawberry pear”.
