HOW TO GROW BOTTLE GOURD FROM SEEDS
  1. Take a Seedling Tray and fill it with Cocopeat.
  2. Make ½ inch deep hole and put 1 seed in each hole.
  3. Fill the hole with Cocopeat and spray with water using a spray gun or spray bottle.
  4. Keep the soil moist not soggy.
  5. Seeds will germinate within a week.
  6. Re-pot the sapling to a Medium Size Pot in 2 weeks.
  7. Full sunlight is needed.
  8. The time to harvest is 10 weeks.
ALTERNATE METHOD 
  1. Take a Medium Size Pot and add a Potting Mix.
  2. If planting in the soil add Neem Cake Powder, Vermicompost, and Seaweed.

This plant grows as a vine from 1 to 6 feet or more tall, so it requires solid support to climb. Support can be provided by installing a vertical trellis. 

Growing bottle gourd is as easy as growing other vegetables. Gourd plants hate frost. It grows well in the temperature range of 16°C – 35°C. Seed germination rates decrease below or above this temperature range. Therefore, this vegetable can be grown quickly even in tropical climates. 

Give your gourds at least 1 – 1.5 inches of water each week. Once the soil has warmed up, maintain uniform soil moisture and growing temperature around the plant. 

Gourds love sunlight and don’t like shade. Gourd plants grow well in warm temperatures (25°C – 35°C). It thrives in cool, frost-free conditions as long as the plant achieves adequate vegetative growth before the onset of cool weather.

Gourds are best grown in sandy loamy soils with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5 that are rich in organic matter and well-drained. This culture requires moderately warm temperatures.
